Prince Charles visits renovation site

Britain's Prince Charles visited a renovation site today to show support to volunteers (19.07.06).
The Prince of Wales visited a 19th century mansion in North Somerset, England.
Tyntesfield House - which dates back to the gothic era - is expected to provide training opportunities for young adults, once the rebuilding work has been completed. The landmark belongs to Britain's National Trust, which is governed by Prince Charles. During the visit of the spectacular mansion, the royal toured its many rooms and admired many historical exhibits. According to The Prince of Wales official website, the heir's attention was particularly grabbed by a unique billiard table, dating back to 1884. After the walk-about, Charles met youth groups from local schools and the Tyntesfield Youth National Trust Experience, who are helping with the restoration work. 18-year-old John Moore, who helps clear the estate grounds, was quoted as saying: 'The Prince's visit is significant as not many people know what we get up to and it's nice he's given us his support.' Ella Harbord, a student, agreed: 'We all love working here and it was great to meet Prince Charles. He was very friendly and seemed interested in what we were doing.' Apart from busy volunteers, Charles's visit was also greatly appreciated by the project leaders. Ruth Gofton, manager of the property, was quoted as saying: 'We are thrilled that the Prince of Wales has taken time out from his busy schedule to come and see what we are doing here and in particular the ways in which, in partnership with local organisations schools and individuals, we are opening up the estate as a community resource and making this wonderful 19th Century estate relevant to people today.'Copyright 2006 BANG Media International
