Prince Harry's fellow soldier arrested over bomb hoax
Jul 13, 2006, 15:43 GMT
Britain's Prince Harry has been left shocked after a solider in his cavalry was arrested on bomb hoax charges.
The Queen's cavalryman in Harry's new regiment allegedly carried out the offences to escape his guard duties.
A source was quoted in Britain's The Sun newspaper as saying: 'It is plainly obvious somebody inside had been doing it. The rumour is, whoever it was, wanted to get off normal duties.' The soldier reportedly planted a fake bomb in his Hyde Park Barracks base and made bogus calls to London police. It has also been alleged he left a device near the Household Cavalry's horse stables on the eve of the 1st anniversary of the July 7 London bombings. A bomb squad was called to the scene and they evacuated the area, before carrying out a controlled explosion on the device. Other hoax calls were also allegedly made by the solider two days earlier. The serviceman has insisted he is innocent.Copyright 2006 BANG Media International
