Britain's Princess Beatrice's school in cocaine scandal
Jul 6, 2006, 14:12 GMT
One of Britain's Princess Beatrice's schoolmates has tested positive for cocaine.
The 17-year-old - who attended the swanky St George's in Berkshire, England, with the British royal and competed in ski races alongside her - has now left the school.
According to Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper, St George's has insisted none of the Class A drug was found on school premises. They said in a statement: 'As a result of a drugs test a member of the school tested positive for a banned substance. No drugs were found in school. 'The pupil has left and the matter is being dealt with immediately and privately by the family.' Beatrice, who turns 18 next month, was recently elected head girl of St George's School, where she boards during term-time. The princess - who has a learning disability, dyslexia, which affects her reading and writing - was voted in by pupils and teachers. The teenager's parents, Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson - who is one of the governors - said they were 'thrilled'. Andrew told Britain's The Sun newspaper Beatrice had 'done a hell of a lot better' at school than he did. He added: 'She is a first class student and has been an absolute star in the school community.'Copyright 2006 BANG Media International
