Britain's Prince William's rifle gift
Jun 26, 2006, 18:33 GMT
Britain's Prince William was given a sniper rifle range finder for his birthday.
The young royal - who turned 24 last Wednesday (21.06.06) - received the unusual present from his father, Prince Charles and brother, Prince Harry.
The £540 gift can be fitted to any gun and shows the exact distance to the target, enabling the shooter to aim with greater accuracy. A royal source was quoted in Britain's News Of The World newspaper as saying: 'Charles bought one for Harry for an earlier birthday present and it was such a hit he got one for William too.'The range finder will compliment the £20,000 rifle Charles bought William for his 21st birthday.
Prince's girlfriend, Kate Middleton, also chose to give an alternative birthday gift - a 100-year-old Aladdin-style lamp - and spent over £1,000 importing it from the Middle East.
Meanwhile, palace insiders have suggested the brunette Art History graduate angered William's royal grandmother, Britain's Queen Elizabeth, by presenting her boyfriend with a painting, featuring the young couple in a naked embrace. A source revealed: 'Her Majesty hasn't seen the painting yet. But her advisors have described it to her and she is disgusted. 'One presumes Kate and William have got to know each other in the bedroom but for Kate to blatantly announce it in a raunchy painting goes beyond the bounds of decency in the queen's eyes.'Copyright 2006 BANG Media International
