Prince William's girlfriend's police protection
Jun 19, 2006, 15:26 GMT
Britain's Prince William's girlfriend, Kate Middleton, has been given a police radio for personal protection.
The 24-year-old brunette - who has been dating William since the pair met at University - was spotted carrying the high-tech equipment at a recent polo match.
According to Britain's Daily Mail newspaper, 24-year-old William is so concerned about his sweetheart's safety, that he is considering hiring Kate a private bodyguard. According to reports, the brunette has repeatedly refused William's pleas to increase her security, as she wants to retain her independence and privacy. However, it appears the second-in-line for British throne has managed to change Kate's mind, as she is now carrying the £1,000 digital device, which is linked to the police force. The radio - slightly larger than a mobile phone - connects Kate to William's personal police guard, which is on call around the clock. A police spokesman said:'The network has been rolled out to every police force in the country and is working very successfully. It is the most reliable and secure means of emergency communication you can get.' Meanwhile, according to reports, Kate has been receiving lessons from Royal advisors on how to handle popularity and media attention. The beauty appeared relaxed and at ease when she was photographed with William at the prestigious Chakravarty Cup held at Ham Polo Club in Surrey, England recently.Copyright 2006 BANG Media International
