Britain's Duchess returns to the Royals
Jun 8, 2006, 15:23 GMT
Britain's Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson, is preparing for her first official appearance with the Royal Family in 14 years.
The red-haired royal was shunned by Queen Elizabeth II after photos - showing her lover sucking her toes - were published in press just five months after she separated from husband, Prince Andrew.
The Duchess is to accompany her daughters - Beatrice and Eugenie - when their father, Prince Andrew, is awarded prestigious Order of the Garter medal in an official ceremony this month. A royal insider described the decision to invite the Duchess to the ceremony as an 'astonishing climb-down'. The source was quoted in Britain's The Sun newspaper as saying: 'Andrew is being added to the Order of the Garter and the princesses were very keen their mother is allowed to witness it. She has been cold-shouldered by senior Royals, but she is an excellent mother.' The Duchess is also thought to be attending a party in honour of her daughter, Princess Beatrice's, 18th birthday, which is being held by the Queen next month. The royal divorcee not only suffered the embarrassment of being publicly rejected by the royal family, but also fell into debt as a result of her and her ex-husband's lavish lifestyle. Meanwhile, the Duchess caused outrage among British children's charities when she recently has revealed that she and her teenage daughters are 'couch potatoes'. She told America's Ladies' Home Journal magazine how she and her daughters spend their weekends lazing on the couch, 'glued' to the TV. Ferguson revealed the trio sometimes lay on the couch for nearly 20 hours, watching everything from TV series to DVDs. Apparently, the family enjoy their digital past-time so much that Sarah has even nicknamed her and the girls 'The Tripod'. She said: ''The Tripod' is how you see us today. Totally and utterly connected in every single way.' The flame-haired royal said the trio especially enjoy watching American drama series and 'educational' films like 'Braveheart'.Copyright 2006 BANG Media International

Regarding the subject of Sarah attending the presentatioon to Edward. Whoever wrote this article and included the line 'an royal insider described the decision to invite Sarah as 'an astonishing climb-down'... -- I just want to say that in my opinion the great 'climb-down was April 9,2005, wshen they allowed a bonafide mistress into their midst. A mistress... Speaking about the lowering of the bar! At least Sarah, knows what it is like to work for a living, and get her life back into shape. I think the royals out to look at Sarah through different eyes...
