Jun 1, 2006, 14:09 GMT
Britain's Prince William will wear a Thai shirt when he takes on a polo team from Dubai at a tournament this summer.
According to The Nation newspaper in Thailand, the young royal has agreed to play with the Thai team in the Chakravarty Cup, which will this year be held in London.
The annual charity event is a key date in the polo calendar, with proceeds going to The Prince's Trust. The Thai squad will not only boast the talented prince but also include world champion Argentine Adolfo. Their rivals will be captained by Ali Albwardy, the president of the Ham Polo Club, where the competition will take place. Thailand is set to be visited by another British royal next week when William's uncle Prince Andrew arrives next Wednesday (07.06.06). The royal will represent Britain's Queen Elizabeth II at the 60th anniversary celebrations of the Thai King's accession to the throne. Meanwhile, prince William is reportedly being pressured into getting married by his father, Britain's Prince Charles. According to London's Evening Standard newspaper, the crown prince has been urging his 24-year-old son to wed his long-term girlfriend Kate Middleton. According to the report, Charles and the rest of the Royal Family, believes that Kate is perfect 'wife and mother material.' It has also been claimed that the 58-year-old heir to the British throne is eager to become a grandfather. A source was quoted in Evening Standard as saying: 'I would not be at all surprised if they tied the knot. Kate is a good, strong, intelligent, nice girl and they seem to have a stable relationship. Some people play around in their youth but William and Kate don't seem to have any need of that. William is the great hope of the future and it would be said if he let her go.' William met his 24-year-old girlfriend at University and the pair soon became housemates, and then sweethearts. The handsome couple have sparked engagement speculations on several occasions, the last one being May this year (06), when William whisked Kate away on a romantic Caribbean holiday.Copyright 2006 BANG Media International
