Britain's Prince Charles has joined an exclusive 'gentleman's club' in London.
The private Reform Club was founded in 1836 and has only admitted women since 1981.
Charles and his wife Camilla have accepted an invitation to join, and they won't even have to pay the annual £900 subscription fee. A spokesman for Charles' Clarence House office said: 'The prince and his wife were kindly asked to be honorary members and they have accepted.'privates clubs are notoriously difficult to join and have long waiting lists. p
otential members must have an important sponsor and the support of current members.
The usual membership procedures were reportedly waived for Charles and Camilla, who live within walking distance of the club. Other famous members of the club include opera singer Dame Kiri Te Kanawa - who sang at Charles and Princess Diana's wedding - and ex-House of Commons Speaker Baroness Betty Boothroyd. The club boasts billiards and cards rooms, a wine cellar, a restaurant, a library and rooms available for guests to stay overnight. Mobile phones are banned and women in trousers are not admitted.Copyright 2006 BANG Media International
