Britain's Prince Harry joins new regiment
May 10, 2006, 16:13 GMT
Britain's Prince Harry joined prestigious regiment, the Blues and Royals, on his first day with the Household Cavalry yesterday (09.05.06).
According to Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper, the young royal will have a two week settling in period at the Combermere Barrack in Windsor - known as the 'familiarization' process - before being transferred to Bovington Camp, Dorset for an intensive four-month training programme.
The 21-year-old is currently ranked a Cornet but will be promoted to Armoured Reconnaissance Troop Leader following his stint. However, interesting pictures have appeared in Britain's The Sun newspaper showing the prince saluting with the wrong hand - his left instead of his right - during an exercise at Sandhurst Military Academy - where he graduated from last month. The young royal - who was wearing a green balaclava in the pictures - made the blunder during an exercise while catapulting eggs at pretend 'enemies.' Meanwhile, Harry's older brother, Prince William - who is outranked by Harry - has just returned to Sandhurst for his second term. He too has an important first day coming up - his first as the new President of The Football Association. The 24-year-old royal will present the FA Cup to the winning team at this Saturday's final between Liverpool and West Ham United at the Millenium Stadium, Cardiff. The handsome prince has just returned from a Caribbean holiday with his girlfriend, Kate Middleton. The couple - who met at University - have been together for nearly three years.Copyright 2006 BANG Media International
