Harry jumps for Chelsy

Britain's Prince Harry made his first parachute jump yesterday (04.05.06) - after his girlfriend Chelsy Davy dared him to do it.

Blonde Chelsy had been teasing the prince ever since she did a jump for her 20th birthday last November - and challenged the handsome royal to prove he had the nerve to repeat the stunt.

One eyewitness told Britain's The Sun newspaper: 'Chelsy had dared Harry to do it after she did her own skydive last year and he told her that anything she could do, he could!'

Harry - who is third in line to the British throne - made the 10,000ft jump near Cape Town, South Africa, where he and his girlfriend are enjoying a break together.

During the descent the prince - who was strapped to an instructor - free-fell at speeds of up to 120pmh for 40 seconds.

The instructor also executed a series of stomach-churning aerobatic moves, including somersaulting 360 degrees.

Chelsy cheered as Harry neared the landing site, and he gave his girlfriend the thumbs up when he set down safely.

The source added: 'There was a loud shout of 'Yes!' from Chelsy as she saw his purple parachute suddenly open.'

The couple have been enjoying a romantic holiday in South Africa before Harry returns to join his new Army regiment, the Blues and Royals.

Last month Harry - who was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Household Cavalry after graduating from Sandhurst Military Academy last month - allegedly threatened to leave the Army is he isn't sent to the front line.

Troops from Harry's regiment are due to head to Iraq and Afghanistan in the next few months and the prince has said he will quit if his royal status stops him joining his unit in war zones.
