William's island romance
May 3, 2006, 17:30 GMT
Britain's Prince William and his girlfriend Kate Middleton are making up for lost time with a romantic Caribbean break.
The young royal and the brunette millionaire's daughter are staying with a group of friends in an £8,000-a-week mansion, complete with top chef, on the island of Mustique - a short flight from Barbados.
William's gruelling training course at Sandhurst Military Academy has meant the university sweethearts have only been able to spend limited time together. A close friend of the couple is quoted by Britain's The Sun newspaper as saying: 'They are determined the holiday would make up for all the hours they have spent apart.' William and Kate's chosen holiday destination is said to be a playground for the rich and famous. Yesterday (02.05.06), the couple were enjoying the sunshine on a £1m boat. The pair's friends have also been making the most of the evening entertainment on offer and on Monday night (01.05.06) spent time in the beach-front karaoke bar. A holiday-maker told Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper: 'They were all having a great time. All the lads were urging William to get up and sing. He agreed and seemed pretty cool about the whole thing.' William and Kate - who met almost five years ago - are due to return to London later this week. Meanwhile, it's been revealed the prince is unlikely to see the front line during his Army career. The handsome royal is expected to join the 1st Battalion Welsh Guards when he completes his training at Sandhurst this year. The unit will reportedly be deployed to a six-month tour of Bosnia this year - before the handsome prince can join them. The battalion won't be sent to a war zone again for at least 3 years but, by then, William may have left the Army.Copyright 2006 BANG Media International
