Prince William's 'chav' day
Apr 10, 2006, 14:32 GMT
Britain's Prince William celebrated passing his first year of Army training by becoming a working class 'chav'.
The 23-year-old and his fellow cadets at Sandhurst Military Academy dressed as 'chavs' - which is a British slang term for working class fashion lifestyle - for the day.
The handsome prince donned a loose-fitting top, a baseball cap and heavy jewellery for his new look. To make himself look more intimidating, William even balanced a baseball bat on his shoulders. One cadet is quoted in Britain's The Sun newspaper as saying: 'Seeing Prince William dressed as a chav was hilarious. He made the outfit himself, although he had to borrow much of the gear from the sergeants.' Although William looked the part, he struggled to disguise his posh accent during the charade. The source said: 'As we were waiting to do the photo, the cadets teased William about his accent. They demanded he try and put on a 'chavvy' accent and stop speaking like a royal. 'William's not actually the poshest-sounding cadet, despite his family heritage, but he struggled to pull off a working-class accent. It was great fun. He was making hand gestures and swaggering from side to side as he walked across the parade square.'Copyright 2006 BANG Media International
