Edward and Sophie's baby struggle
Apr 3, 2006, 16:54 GMT
Britain's Prince Edward and wife Sophie are reportedly trying for another baby - despite medical warnings that another pregnancy could endanger the Countess' life.
The royal couple are desperate to provide a sibling for their two-year-old daughter, Louise.
But Sophie is vulnerable to serious problems during pregnancy and almost died giving birth to her daughter. A royal source is quoted in Britain's The People newspaper as saying: 'When Sophie had Louise it was touch and go for a long time. She was perilously close to dying. She lost nine pints of blood and was just minutes from death when her condition stabalised.' The Countess, 41, also suffered an ectopic pregnancy in 2001 - two years before giving birth to Louise.prince Edward is said to be concerned about his wife's health problems, but shares her desire for a second child.
The source added: 'The Countess' age makes further problems more likely rather than less. 'But Sophie is so broody and keen to ensure Louise does not grow up as an only child she is doing everything she can to get pregnant with Edward.'Copyright 2006 BANG Media International
