Camilla takes her place on throne
Mar 31, 2006, 16:10 GMT
Britain's Duchess of Cornwall looked thrilled to be sitting on a throne as she watched an Indian parade yesterday (30.03.06).
Camilla and her husband Prince Charles - who have spent six days touring the country - were invited to sit on the traditional high-backed thrones as guests of honour at the stunning procession in Jaipur.
The royal couple clapped and smiled as they watched jewelled elephants and camels join the parade - which was held to commemorate Rajasthan Day. Camilla, who looked elegant in white linen, waved as local dancers moved past them. The festival was one of the last stops on the couple's overseas tour, which has already taken them to Saudi Arabia and Egypt. They are expected to fly home this weekend after visiting Jaipur's Old City in Rajasthan and a local school. The royals flew in to India last Sunday (26.03.06) and went straight to a lavish reception in Delhi. During the party, they met several members of the England cricket team, who are currently playing in India. When asked how it felt to be in India, Charles - who last visited the country in 2003 - said: 'I love coming here. It is emotional.' During their stay Charles and Camilla also toured an Indian village and met local craftsmen. Camilla told the Times of India newspaper she adored the country. She was quoted as saying: 'The pace of life is so different here... it seems I'm walking in a dream.'Copyright 2006 BANG Media International
