Valencia's royal visit

Spain's King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia began a three-day visit to the Valencia region yesterday (14.03.06).
The King said that he wanted to hear of the hopes and fears of the Valencian people after recent job losses hit the area.
The royal couple began the tour in Ontinyent - the centre of the Valencian textile industry - which is currently seeing companies closing and jobs being lost due to Chinese imports. They couple heard how 245 textile companies have closed since 2003 - resulting in a loss of 5,000 jobs.Copyright 2006 BANG Media International
