Harry's a top soldier
Mar 6, 2006, 18:33 GMT
Britain's Prince Harry has been 'showered with praise' for his progress during army training at Sandhurst Military Academy.
The 21-year-old has learned how to dish out the Army's most feared form of attack - the bayonet charge.
And has also impressed his instructors by playing the role of section commander in two attacks under fire from live ammunition. Trainee officer Harry took part in the bayonet drill, which dates back to the 17th century, even though he will never be allowed near real hand-to-hand fighting. He was said to have done 'very well'. A source at Sandhurst, where he is nearing the end of his course, is quoted in Britain's The Sun newspaper as saying: 'Harry had been looking forward to the fixed bayonet charge ever since he started his training. 'The instructors really got his adrenalin flowing by shouting and screaming abuse at him. 'The cadets are told to shout to focus their anger and Harry didn't disappoint.' The drill was part of one of Harry's last exercises currently taking place in south Wales. The prince also led a section of men in a live ammunition exercise. The source added: 'The live firing exercise is dangerous and there is always the chance that someone could get killed. 'Harry's section was well led and he has been showered with praise.' Harry is due to finish his training on April 9.Copyright 2006 BANG Media International
