Britain's Queen visits air base
Jan 31, 2006, 16:37 GMT
Britain's Queen Elizabeth II will visit the air base where she was appointed Honorary Air Commodore in 1977, while celebrating her Silver Jubilee.
RAF Marham in Norfolk will welcome the queen's visit with a fly past of four GR4 Tornados on Tuesday (31.01.06).
The 79-year-old royal will then look at displays and meet personnel, some of whom have recently returned from overseas operations. After lunch she will visit the Sandringham Centre to meet families of air base staff. The queen has visited the station as Honorary Air Commodore every two years since her appointment in 1977. Meanwhile, the monarch recently revealed she is looking for a top chef to improve the meals prepared in the royal kitchens. Elizabeth is said to be considering some of the best cooks at the country's top restaurants to head up her team of 20 chefs. The chosen chef would cook for the queen as well as preparing feasts for visiting dignitaries. A Buckingham Palace insider is quoted in Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper as saying: 'We are stressing it is an important role. The food has to be perfect. 'We cannot have foreign heads of state turning up to a banquet and finding the food is not up to standard.'Copyright 2006 BANG Media International
