Prince William to start Sandhurst training on January 8
Dec 16, 2005, 16:58 GMT
London - Britain's Prince William will start his officer training course at Sandhurst military academy near London on January 8, the Palace announced Friday.
The 23-year-old son of Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana is following younger brother, Harry, into the elite military academy.
William, who graduated from St. Andrew's university in Scotland university this summer, is currently undergoing mountain rescue training with the Royal Airforce (RAF), and has also done 'work experience' in a leading City bank.
Meanwhile Prince Harry, 21, Friday took part in a Sovereign's Parade at Sandhurst.
With his SA80 military rifle resting against his left shoulder, Harry joined nearly 500 officer cadets as they marched in step in front of the site's Old College building.
Around half of those on parade have completed their commissioning course and the ceremony was held to signal their passing out.
The remainder, like Harry, were in their second term, which permits them to carry rifles for the first time.
