Prince William beats brother Harry in army intelligence test
Nov 8, 2005, 5:15 GMT
Britain's Prince William has beaten younger brother Prince Harry in an army intelligence test.
The 23-year-old heir to the throne scored an impressive seven out of ten in the Sandhurst military exam, in which Harry only scored four last year.
A senior official told Britain's Daily Telegraph newspaper: "The raw intelligence test is exactly that. It is used to assess the potential of all soldiers from those who join the ranks to those who want to become officers.
"Seven, which William received, is very, very good. He also displayed good leadership skills. There is no reason why he shouldn't make a very good officer."
Harry's mark was described as "below average" - but when William joins the prestigious military academy in January next year, he will be of a lower rank than his younger sibling.
However, when both royals have completed their army training course, William will outrank 21-year-old Harry, because he has a university degree.
The older prince recently graduated from St Andrew's University in Scotland, where he received a 2:1 degree, while Harry finished his education after taking just two A-Level exams.
An insider told Britain's The Sun newspaper: "William is definitely the smarter of the two royals."
