Zara Phillips raises cash for charity
Oct 28, 2005, 12:44 GMT
British royal Zara Phillips made a staggering 25,000GBP for charity yesterday (27.10.05) - by munching biscuits in a bakery.
The blonde beauty, whose mother is Princess Anne, raised the impressive sum for spinal injury research by auctioning herself as a PA for the day. She was 'bought' by New Zealand bakery boss Gerald Shand, who put her to work at his River Mill factory in Huntly, near Auckland.
But Zara admits she spent more time sampling the bakery's tasty treats than doing any hard work.
She confessed: "I haven't done anything. It's been great. The highlight was eating all the cookies.
"I couldn't work in an office though. I need to be out and about in the fresh air."
However, despite Zara's lazy admission, Shand was impressed with her efforts.
He said: "She was fantastic and really charming. I'd hire her tomorrow. She's a beautiful lady to talk to - such a down-to-earth person to talk to. She's one of us."
Shand wasn't the only one that Zara left an impression on - the male workers liked her so much they invited her for a drink at the local pub after work. Unfortunately for them, the sexy horse-riding champ, who is dating rugby ace Mike Tindall, had to leave.
But Zara claims she would have accepted their offer if she had more time, saying: "Of course I'd go out with them."
