Prince Charles planning to charter private jet for U.S. tour
Oct 10, 2005, 13:27 GMT
Britain's Prince Charles is planning to charter a private jet, at a cost of £200,000, for his upcoming visit to America.
It was thought that the prince would travel by airline to America, after he was widely criticized for spending almost £300,000 of taxpayer's money on a trip to Australia and the Far East earlier this year.
But Charles and new wife Camilla Parker Bowles will make their trip to New York, Washington and San Francisco in a chartered aircraft.
The royal couple are likely to charter a British Airways Boeing 777 complete with 14 cabin crew for the 12,000-mile round trip.
Critics argue that as a man of immense wealth the prince should pay for his own luxury transport.
