Cry wolf worries over Prince William's mountain rescue stint
Oct 10, 2005, 13:24 GMT
Britain's Prince William has been banned from saving climbers as part of his stint with a mountain rescue team - because too many girls will pretend to be in trouble.
The 23-year-old royal wants to try mountain rescuing before joining his brother Harry in Army officer training at Sandhurst in January.
But Braemar Mountain rescue Team says the young prince will be restricted to cleaning equipment, washing emergency vehicles and answering phones.
A source said: "It is feared that if William is on the rescue team, a lot of young women might find excuses for him to rescue them."
As well as mountain rescue William wants to work in the City of London before starting at Sandhurst.
He said: "Joining a mountain rescue team really appeals to me as I can learn first-hand how these amazing people help save lives on a regular basis."
A Clarence house spokeswoman said yesterday: "The question of training will be looked at because you can't jump in and out of a helicopter without knowing what you are doing."
