Details of Prince Charles and Camilla U.S. visit
Oct 6, 2005, 14:53 GMT
Britain's Prince Charles and his wife the Duchess of Cornwall will reportedly face angry protests from fans of Princess Diana when they tour the United States next month.
The couple have launched a public relations campaign to try to win over the US public - who are thought to be hostile towards Camilla for her role in the collapse of Charles ands Diana's marriage.
Security surrounding the tour has been tightened but fans of the late princess insist they will loudly oppose the visit.
One is quoted in Britain's Daily Express newspaper as saying: "We are mounting various campaigns regarding those two losers coming over."
During their visit, the newlywed couple will dine with President Bush and his wife at the Whitehouse, and attend a meeting with Secretary General Kofi Annan at the United Nations.
The visit, which is aimed at highlighting the links between the two countries, will also include engagements in New York, Washington DC, and San Fransisco.
Their trip will focus on the importance of the economic relationship, and the range of cultural, environmental and community links between the two nations.
Sustainability will be another important theme of the tour, in areas such as housing and education, and farming and food sourcing.
The prince's first television interview for more than ten years, on American channel CBS, will be broadcast soon before the royal visit.
A source from CBS revealed: "The prince was concerned that, considering how well-loved Diana was over here, a visit with his new wife would not get much coverage. He basically wants Camilla to have a lot of attention."
