Britain's Queen approves creation of new equestrian award
Oct 6, 2005, 14:52 GMT
Britain's Queen Elizabeth has approved the creation of a prestigious award to honour equestrian sports.
Apart from the national honours system, the new award, to be called 'The Queen's Award for Equestrianism', will be the highest honour in the UK for outstanding services to horse-riding sport.
Chairman of the British Horse Society said: "We are thrilled and honoured that Her Majesty wishes to recognise outstanding achievement with an award in her name. I can think of no greater accolade for anyone involved in the sport than to be recognised in this way."
The Award will be presented annually on the recommendation of the Trustees of The British Horse Society.
