Queen Rania of Jordan laid the cornerstone of the country's National Museum on Sunday (02.10.05).
The beautiful royal joined the mayor of Amman, the minister of public works and housing, and the secretary general of the Ministry of Tourism at the ceremony.
The National Museum, which aims to preserve and display local treasures, as well as boost tourism, has also been supported by the Japanese government.
Japan's Princess Sumaya - who is vice chairman of the museum's board of trustees - also attended the cornerstone ceremony.
The National Museum is set to open by mid-2007.
