Britain's Princess Anne has met with China's vice president Zeng Qinghong in a bid to further strengthen ties between the two countries.
The princess arrived in China on Tuesday (20.09.05) for a four day stay. When she met with vice president Zeng Qinghong the pair discussed child protection, education and social welfare.
The Chinese vice president told the princess he appreciated the contributions made by the British Royal family, saying Anne's trip would further improve relations.
He also noted that China and the UK will host the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games respectively, which would offer the two countries even more opportunities to interact and co-operate.
He added: "I hope the Beijing and London Olympic Games will become two of the most wonderful sports events with their own characteristics."
Princess Anne - who is also a member of the International Olympic Committee - praised the healthy state of UK-China relations and told the Chinese politician she believed the Beijing Games in 2008 would be very successful.
She added the UK is willing to strengthen exchange and cooperation between the countries.
