Britain's Queen Elizabeth II has congratulated the England cricket team on winning the Ashes.
The monarch has praised the batsmen, led by captain Michael Vaughan, for their triumph over Australia - the first time England has won the Ashes in 18 years.
Speaking from Balmoral, the Queen said: "My warmest congratulations to you, the team and all the squad for a magnificent achievement.
"This has been a truly memorable series and both sides can take credit for cricket at its best."
The England team will lead a victory parade through London's Trafalgar Square today (13.09.05).
