Jordan's Queen Rania made honorary citizen of Milan
Sep 8, 2005, 15:07 GMT
Queen Rania of Jordan has been made an honorary citizen of Milan.
The stylish royal was honoured in the Italian city for her work to promote peace and human rights.
Queen Rania, who was presented with the accolade by Milan mayor Gabriel Albertini, said she was "very proud" to accept citizenship.
Earlier this year, Queen Rania gave birth to her fourth child.
The 34-year-old royal and her husband, King Abdullah II, announced the arrival of their second son, Prince Hashem, named after the prophet Mohammed 's grandfather, in January.
The King and Queen, who wed in 1993, already have three other children, 10-year-old Hussein and two daughters, eight-year-old Iman and Salma, four. However, the birth raised questions about the succession after the King stripped his half brother, Prince Hamzah, of his right to inherit the throne at the end of last year.
There is now widespread speculation that the King may appoint his eldest son to the post.
