Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver to give alternative to Queen's speech
Aug 31, 2005, 14:45 GMT
Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver is set to go head-to-head with Britain's Queen Elizabeth II by delivering a Christmas speech of his own.
The 29-year-old TV cook will give the country an alternative festive message - with wife Jools and their daughters, Poppy Honey, three, and Daisy Boo, two, by his side - at 3pm on Britain's Channel 4.
Traditionally, the Queen addresses the nation on the BBC at 3pm.
An insider is quoted in Britain's The Sun newspaper as saying: "Jamie could give out tips to make sure your turkey is timed to perfection!"
Jamie, who is nicknamed the 'Naked Chef', will not be the first star to give an alternative Christmas message on Channel 4.
He follows in the footsteps of reality TV star Sharon Osbourne and animated character Marge Simpson.
