Richard Gere knew Julia Roberts was "magical" the first time they met.

The 'I'm Not There' actor, who starred alongside Julia in 'Pretty Woman' in 1990, believed Julia was something special before they had even worked together.

Richard said: "I think my favorite memory of Julia was just meeting her. I remember very clearly her coming into my office, and she had done 'Mystic Pizza' at that point, and you could feel there was something magical about her."

But the 58-year-old star, who was reunited with Julia for 'Runaway Bride' in 1999, insists they won't be working together again.

He said: "We have done two movies and they were both successful so maybe we should just let it go at that."

When asked how he felt being regarded as a Hollywood sex symbol, Richard replied: "Now this is when I start blushing! I have never been comfortable with the sex symbol label."

Richard, who has a seven-year-old son, Homer, with wife Carey Lowell, says every choice he makes is for Carey.

He explained: "Everything in my life is a tribute to my wife. It doesn't work without her. Nothing does. Carey is incredible. She is the most beautiful woman in the world."
