Ashlee Simpson says surfers make the perfect boyfriends.

The 22-year-old singer, who is dating Fall Out Boy rocker Pete Wentz, says she loves "laid-back" men.

Ashlee told Cosmopolitan magazine: "It's really hard for me to like Hollywood-type guys.

"I like guys who are relaxed and chill and who think I'm sexy no matter what I do.

"And I like guys who are into surfing. They're cute and seem more laid-back, and I'm a pretty laid-back person."

Ashlee - who is rumoured to have had a nose job last year - says she has always been confident in her looks.

She said: "I feel very confident with the way I look.

"But I felt just as confident the way I looked before. I've always been confident with who I am."

Ashlee is now working on her third album and feels her music style has matured along with her.

She said: "I'm in a stronger place now. I'm coming into my womanhood, and it's changing my music."
