From Monsters and Critics.com People News The Up-Town Girl and fitness spokesmodel Christie Brinkley is recovering from emergency surgery on her back following a ski injury, reports E! The 52-year-old hurt her back during a ski vacation in Aspen back in December, and was admitted to a Manhattan hospital Tuesday after her condition worsened in recent days. The procedure was a success, says her publicist Marcia Horowitz to E! "Her biggest disappointment was not for herself but for missing her daughter Alexa Ray Joel's performance this evening at the Mercury Lounge and the pre-concert supper party she was set to host in Alexa's honor," said Horowitz. "As Christie noted right before the surgery, I would break my back to help my daughter but I didn't mean it literally." Like her famous father, Alexa plays piano and fronts her own band. She's even playing the New Orleans Jazz Festival in April.
