Russell Crowe explains his 'brain snap'
By Cindy Locke Jun 9, 2005, 15:31 GMT
Russell Crowe blamed being a lonely family man away from home, jet lag and adrenalin for throwing a telephone at Mercer Hotel employee Nester Estrada earlier this week. He says he is ashamed of his “brain snap” and that he was not aiming at Estrada.
Crowe was charged with assault after losing his temper when the phone he used to call his wife and son in Sydney malfunctioned. If he is found guilty of second degree assault, he could be sent to jail and would be unable to work in the US again. Crowe says that now he has to “face-up and deal with it.”
Crowe appeared on the David Letterman show and told the audience: “This is possibly the most shameful situation I’ve ever gotten myself in my life, and I’ve done some pretty dumb things in my life, so to actually make a new number one is spectacularly stupid.”
“Hopefully, at some stage I'll be able to apologise directly to Nestor,” he said. “But at the moment he's not answering the phone.”

We all get mad,but the difference between what Russelldid and what most people do is we do not take our anger out on people we do not even know the way he took his anger out. I have gotten upset at a waitress, cashier etc but I do not get violent that is what a 2 year old does cause they do not know any better and as they get older they realize that it is not acceptable and grow up, obviously his parents never taught him how to behave in public and to respect others. He uses the lonely, jet lag excuse so does that mean that everyone that comes off the plane without somebody to keep them company is violent and has a temper. Well we better all look out cause there is a few million people wandering around that want to have a phone throwing contest and then blame it on emotions. come on he has a temper and will use any excuse to avoid a penalty
One more thing, his parents must be ashamed about his temper and how he is emberrassing australia with his attitude
'...and for my next number one I am torn between either a) shooting an albatross or b) single handedly reenacting Galipoli with live shells and guns' -RC
But on the other hand who hasn't wanted to club an NYC concierge with a good 'ol
wallphone at one time or another? What with their 'getting you anything you want and taking care of stuff for you' attitude! They control the phones!! Fascists!!!
He's out of control. And pretending to be Australian isn't good for us Aussies. Wake up Crowe. You're a New Zealander.

Sorry Russell, but you were denying the incident (claimed to have only thrown the phone at the wall) until security footage emerged. Now damage limitation has kicked in, too little too late.
