Paula Abdul Denies Affair Rumors
By Cindy Locke Apr 27, 2005, 18:11 GMT
Corey Clark, 24, a former contestant on the reality TV show American Idol, is claiming he and Paula Abdul had an affair during the show’s 2003 season. Clark says Abdul paid his expenses and promised him $2 million to help finance his career if he kept the relationship hush-hush.
The accusation is planned to be included in an ABC News special, set to air next Wednesday night at 10pm, which takes a look at claims of wrongdoing behind the scenes of American Idol. Abdul’s attorney, Marty Singer, sent a letter to ABC warning them to stay clear of the topic. Abdul’s spokeswoman said, “There’s a false story that’s defamatory to Paula…Her lawyer responded to that.”
Abdul is denying Clark’s claims and her colleagues are backing her all the way. Simon Cowell said, “I think Corey Clark’s claims are rubbish. I think this guy’s out there to publicize a book.”
