Janet Jackson Stalker Gets Three Year Restraining Order
By James Wray Mar 18, 2005, 16:46 GMT
LOS ANGELES (Santa Monica) - A man accused of stalking Janet Jackson has had a restraining order placed on him.
The pop star claimed New Yorker Robert Gardner, 46, had been stalking her for nine years, even showing up at a television studio, where Jackson was recording, armed with a box-cutter, scissors and a knife.
The judge ordered that Gardner stay at least 100 yards away from Jackson, her family and associates for the next three years.
Although the pop star did not attend court documents testified that Gardner had imagined a relationship with her and had been attempting meetings for the nine years. Finally he tried to enter the studio where she was appearing on Saturday Night Live when security guards stopped him.
Gardner said in court that he did not want to be considered a stalker, "I'm just one of her fans" he said.
