Jane Fonda To Undergo Hip Operation

The Autobiography is due out April 5

Jane Fonda is set to undergo a hip replacement, after she completes the publicity tour for her autobiography and new movie, "Monster-in-Law."

Fonda, 67, has already had treatment for her knee and is said to have recovered from that well.

Her book, "My Life so far," is due out April 5 and Fonda divides her “life so far” into three “acts,” writing about her childhood, first films, and marriage to Roger Vadim in Act One. At once a picture emerges: a child born to the acting legend Henry Fonda and the glamorous society princess Frances Seymour. But these early years are also marked by profound sadness: her mother’s mental illness and suicide when Jane is twelve years old, her father’s emotional distance, and her personal struggle to find her way in the world as a young woman.

"Monster-in-Law" follows Charlotte ‘Charlie’ Cantilini (Jennifer Lopez), who unlucky in love has finally met the man of her dreams, Dr. Kevin Fields (Michael Vartan). There’s just one problem - his mother! Overbearing and controlling, not to mention volatile, Viola Fields (Jane Fonda) has recently been canned from her job as a star news anchor. Fearing she will lose her son’s affections as she has her career, Viola decides to break up the happy couple by becoming the world’s worst mother-in-law.

The marks Fonda's return to the big screen after 14 years absence, it opens on May 13 in the US and UK.
