Spike Lee sued over Zimmerman revenge tweet

Spike Lee is in a legal mess over his use of Twitter as an alleged retaliation.

The director was sued by an elderly couple in Florida, whose address he incorrectly published as the home of Trayvon Martin's killer, George Zimmerman, according to court documents obtained by the Smoking Gun.

Lee had tweeted out the Florida address along with George Zimmerman’s name in March 2012 to his Twitter followers, in excess of 250,000.

“While defendant intended to post the home address of George Zimmerman, he actually posted the address of plaintiffs Elaine McClain and David McClain,” the complaint reads.

The McClains originally reached a settlement with Lee on March 29, 2012, but the retweets of the director’s original tweet caused the couple more problems during the year.
