Jennifer Lawrence says eating calms her down.

The 22-year-old actress has been nominated for a Best Actress Academy Award for her role in 'Silver Linings Playbook' and revealed she was so nervous before attending the Oscars in 2011, when she was nominated for her role in 'Winter's Bone', she relaxed by tucking into a hearty meal before walking the red carpet.

She said: 'Eating calms me down. One year, I was wearing a skin tight dress and I ate a Philly cheesesteak. But then I had to double Spanx it.'

Jennifer wishes she could dress down for the awards, but knows she has to 'suck it up' and look glamorous.

She added to Us Weekly magazine: 'I want to wear sweatpants. No, I'll suck it up and wear a corset. The problem with the Oscars is that they're at the end of the awards season, so you're exhausted from dressing up.'

Jennifer also revealed she will prepare for the big night with her pals so she doesn't get nervous.

She said: 'I just have my friends with me, so I am not thinking about the awards. When it's quiet and you can't talk, then I'm in my head.'
