Diane Lane signed divorce papers on Valentine's Day

Diane Lane signed her divorce papers on Valentine's Day (14.02.13).

The 'Perfect Storm' star cited February 13 as the official date of her separation from Josh Brolin, even though friends claim the marriage was over for some time, and signed the papers the next day, the most romantic day of the year.

A source told People magazine: 'They've been separated for several months. This was a hard decision for both of them to make. The relationship just ran its course.'

The documents - filed in the Los Angeles Superior Court - also show Diane, 48, was the petitioner in the divorce from her 45-year-old spouse after eight years of marriage.

This will be the second divorce for both celebrities. Diane was married to actor Christopher Lambert from 1988 to 1994, while Josh previously split from Alice Adair, with whom he has two kids, Trevor, 24, and Eden, 18.

The split comes not long after Josh opened up about their marriage.

He said: 'She's a very strong woman, extremely strong.

'We're not really in the spotlight. I mean, we are in times like this [interview], but, you know, there's one light. We just do our own thing, and we always have.

'And we're not in LA all the time, we're up north a lot of the time where I grew up, so, you know, you just do what you do. You don't play up into the hype so much.'
