Katy Perry was all over John Mayer at a pre-Grammys bash.

The 'Firework' singer - who split from British comedian Russell Brand in December 2011 after 14 months of marriage - was spotted being extremely affectionate with the 'Half of my Heart' singer, slipping her hand under his tuxedo jacket to rub his lower back at Clive Davis's Gala & Salute to Industry Icons in Beverly Hills on Saturday night (09.02.13).

A source told also USMagazine.com: 'She fixed his hair and they chatted. They seemed really happy and content.'

The 28-year-old popstar couldn't stop smiling as she led John around the room to mingle with other guests, including Sting and John Legend.

John, who has been dating Katy for almost eight months, recently admitted he is very happy with her.

He said: 'I mean, I'm quite happy. I'm happy in all aspects of my life. I'm very happy in all aspects of my life.'

While the duo were initially reluctant to go public with their relationship, they are now serious and want the world to know.

The insider added: 'They've both acted very private about their relationship in the past but they seem comfortable about going public with their relationship now. They seem very happy.

'John really likes the fact that Katy is so independent and not needy and clingy like the other girls he's dated. This is the first time John's felt so strongly about a girl. She's played her cards perfectly. They really do bring out the best in each other.'
