Kevin Bacon doesn't want his wife to star in his new TV show 'The Following'.

While Kevin, 54, is a huge fan of Kyra Sedgwick's work, he admitted having her act alongside him in the programme could be seen as 'stunt casting'.

He said: 'When you're so known as a couple you don't want to take people out of their experience of the show. It kind of feels like stunt casting.'

However, Kevin would love if 47-year-old Kyra - with whom he has two children Travis, 23 and 20-year-old Sosie - would direct an episode.

He told Us Weekly: 'She'd be a fantastic director. I've worked on parts with her and she's incredibly astute and helpful.'

While he doesn't want to act with her, Kevin recently revealed he is a doting husband and will always volunteer to tidy their house without having to be asked.

He said: 'Whatever needs to be done, I'll do it. I recently vacuumed and cleaned up the foamy insides of a dog toy. I buy our dogs Lilly and Rocky toys and within 24 hours there're piles of chewed up foam all over the house.'
