Barbara Walters 'weak and tired'

Barbara Walters is feeling 'weak and tired' after being released from hospital.

The broadcaster and host of 'The View' was discharged last week after suffering a concussion from a fall at a pre-inauguration party for President Barack Obama in Washington, D.C. last month and was also diagnosed with chicken pox, but she plans to spend at least three more weeks recovering at home in New York.

The 83-year-old TV veteran phoned into the ABC chat show on Wednesday (06.02.13) and told her colleagues: 'I had a temperature and I had the chicken pox and didn't know it.

'So when I was in Washington for the inauguration weekend, I fainted at the British Embassy. If you're going to faint, it's a very elegant place to faint. And I hit my head and had six stitches, in addition to the chicken pox. I had been in somebody's company who had the shingles and I got the chicken pox from them. But, I also got a concussion.

'So I have been a little weak. I am not in any pain. I'm not scratching too much ... I'm not itching away! But I do feel just sort of weak and tired and I probably won't be back on the program for about three weeks.'

Barbara, a respected TV journalist, created and co-hosts 'The View' as well as her annual '10 Most Fascinating People' special, which attracts millions of viewers.
