Denise Richards' dog has died.

The 'World is Not Enough' actress - who has daughters Sam, eight, and Lola, seven, with ex-husband Charlie Sheen, and adopted 18-month-old Eloise - took to Twitter to pay tribute to Hank, her French bulldog, who was 'part of the family' until he passed away on Sunday (20.01.13).

Alongside a picture of the dog, she tweeted: 'Last night we lost our beloved Hank ... I will miss him dearly,13 yrs old ... been there for me thru it all Best dog ever & part of our family (sic)'

The 41-year-old beauty later thanked her fans for their support in the wake of her pet bereavement.

She added: 'Thank you so much for your kind messages about Hank ... it means alot to me. You guys are the best ... so thoughtful & kind. xo (sic)'.

Denise has several other cats and dogs in her household, and most recently adopted a puppy named Lily shortly after Hurricane Sandy devastated New York.

The actress and her children visited a North Shore Animal League America shelter in Long Island, New York, to help with relief efforts and the family fell in love with a black Labrador mix puppy.

She said at the time: 'My daughters came with [me], and we went home with a little girls.

'The girls named her Lily. We went back and forth, 'Should we name her Sandy because that was the name of the hurricane?' But it's also such a tragedy. So the girls picked Lily.'
