Carrie Underwood feels 'awful' when people refer to her husband Mike Fisher as 'Mr. Underwood'.

The 29-year-old singer admits her hockey player spouse found it tough when he was traded from the Ottawa Senators to the Nashville Predators in 2011, but the situation was made worse when he was described in reports as 'Carrie Underwood's husband or Mr. Underwood or whatever.'

She told Allure magazine: 'It made me feel awful. Somebody works real hard to make a name for themselves, a respectable name, and then it's Mr. Underwood...'

Though the couple had planned to eventually live in Nashville, the country superstar admits Mike was upset when he was traded - though she is happy to have him close.

She added: 'He was drafted there, and that was the only team he had ever played for. He would have played and he wanted to play for Ottawa for his whole career. He had no say in any of it.

'[But] I love it that he's here.'

Carrie believes that the TV show 'Nashville' and Gwyneth Paltrow's movie 'Country Strong' don't depict the country music scene accurately because there isn't a big female presence.'

She added: ''Nashville' is all about females; 'Country Strong' is all about females. It's like there's a hundred spots for men to be able to take, but when it comes to women - and I don't mean to say this in a bragging way at all - but unfortunately I'm the only female this year who spent three weeks at number one on the country charts. Three weeks.'
