Taylor Swift believes in Santa Claus.

The 23-year-old singer - who is dating One Direction hunk Harry Styles - thinks people won't receive gifts if they aren't open to the belief that presents are delivered by the bearded sleigh traveller.

She said: 'You have to believe in him, if not, he won't bring you any gifts. Everybody knows that.'

Whether the 'I Knew You Were Trouble' singer will be spending this Christmas with Harry or not, she's likely to get a kiss from someone as she hangs mistletoe, a plant which traditionally means two people must share a smooch if they stand underneath it together.

She told BRAVO.de: 'There'll be mistletoe hung at my house.'

Taylor - who has previously dated many famous men including Joe Jonas, Jake Gyllenhaal and John Mayer - has openly revealed she draws inspiration for her songs from her love life and it seems she likes to listen to other people's tracks which are about romances.

The blonde beauty says her favourite Christmas song is Wham's 'Last Christmas' because it recalls an old romance which ended badly for those involved.

Asked her favourite festive song, she said: ''Last Christmas'. I like the song because it is about an old relationship.'
