LeAnne Rimes has written a song about her affair with Eddie Cibrian.

Unveiling her new single 'Broken' on 'The Tonight Show with Jay Leno' on Tuesday (18.12.12), the country singer confessed it is about her messy romance with Eddie which began while they were both married to other people, and revealed she felt 'pathetic' at the time.

The 30-year-old musician was married to Dean Sheremet when she met Eddie, 39, on the set of 2009 TV movie 'Northern Lights', while he was wed to 'Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' star Brandi Glanville.

She said: 'The song is about the situation. I did go through a very public affair with Eddie, who is now my wonderful husband.'

The actress is self-critical of her actions in the lyrics of the song, referring to herself as 'pathetic', but admits, 'I don't want to give you back.'

She explained: 'I call myself pathetic in the song because at that moment I was pathetic.'

'A lot of people who have been in that situation can relate to that ... it kills me to give that up. It's a very intimate look into a very rough moment of my life.'

The singer recently sought treatment for anxiety and stress in the aftermath of the affair.

She said of her time in rehab: 'The last four years have been very compressed with stress.'
