Zooey Deschanel's divorce has been finalised.
The 'New Girl' actress' union with Death Cab For Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard has been officially dissolved, over a year after they officially separated on October 31, 2011.
Zooey- who was married to Ben for two years - filed divorce papers in Los Angeles Superior County Court on December 27, 2011, citing 'irreconcilable differences' as her reason behind the split.
Just months prior to the announcement, Zooey - who is now dating screenwriter Jamie Linden - said she enjoyed being married because it 'solidified' the couple's commitment to each other.
She explained: 'You can't expect to make no effort. You still have to make the effort and be kind and understanding. It sort of just solidifies your commitment.'
Meanwhile, Ben previously admitted he was 'awestruck' that Zooey even agreed to speak to him in the first place because she was so 'beautiful'
He revealed: 'I'd seen her movies and obviously I thought she was very beautiful. [When we were introduced] I was awestruck that she was even talking to me!'
