Gary Barlow was awarded an OBE from Britain's Queen Elizabeth today (21.11.12).
The Take That frontman said he felt 'deeply honoured' to be given the accolade for services to the entertainment industry and to charity by the 86-year-old monarch at her London residence Buckingham Palace
Gary was behind the triumphant Diamond Jubilee concert - staged at the palace during a special bank holiday weekend in June - which featured a host of stars including Stevie Wonder, Robbie Williams and Sir Paul McCartney who played to the queen and a televised audience of millions.
He also co-wrote the single 'Sing' - which celebrated the queen's 60 years on the throne - with Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber, which topped the UK singles chart.
Oscar-winning actress Kate Winslet was also at Buckingham Palace today to collect her CBE, for her services to drama, and says she enjoyed chatting to the queen.
The mother-of-two said: 'She asked me if I enjoyed acting and I said yes I liked it but not as much as being a mother. She said, 'It is the best job.' '
