Mischa Barton: I'm not like Lindsay

Mischa Barton thinks she is worlds apart from Lindsay Lohan.

'The O.C.' star and the 'Mean Girls' actress were both thrust into the public eye at the same time, but Mischa believes they are very different and she is less of a drama queen than the party-loving starlet.

The 26-year-old actress said: 'I was not a commercial product, I was a very intense kid, very book smart, not a Disney kid - that was more Lindsay's bracket. We're acquaintances, we might say hi to each other but it's rare.

'I've known her since we were eight years old so there is a legitimate kind of - it's not a friendship - but we know each other. I find there's a lot of drama surrounding those girls. I've changed, I've always been an old soul but I think you see your arrogance even as you get a few years older.'

Mischa insisted she is 'fundamentally' different from the socialites like Paris Hilton who she used to hang out with in Los Angeles and although she wanted to set herself apart from them, she regrets often being lumped into the same category as 'those' kind of girls.

She told Britain's OK! magazine: 'In retrospect I wish I hadn't gone out with so and so and hadn't befriended these people. Honestly, I'm just so different from those girls just fundamentally.

'I was on a hit TV show in Los Angeles and I was thrown into that world so I know Paris and Lindsay from being around. Unfortunately I've been at the same events as them over the years and in doing 'The O.C.' I've been in their circles plenty but I've never been their friend.'
