Carly Rae Jepsen is 'terrified' of crowd surfing for the first time at the MTV Europe Music Awards tonight (11.11.12).

The 'Call Me Maybe' singer - who is nominated for three awards - is nervous about relying on the audience to carry her during her theatrical performance at the star-studded event in Frankfurt, Germany.

The singer exclusively told BANG Showbiz: 'I'm very excited, as ready as I can be considering there are some new things happening in my part of the show. I body surf, it will be my first time body surfing, I'm a little bit terrified!'

But one thing Carly isn't worried about is how fans will react to her performance. Earlier this week the 26-year-old Canadian singer revealed she knew her debut single 'Call Me Maybe' would be a hit after seeing the reaction from her family the first time she played it to them.

She said: 'The song was really enjoyable to record, so that was always a bit of a thrill, but I didn't know that it was that extra special song until I played it for my family.

'My aunt, who is a little bit of a tomboy, a hockey player, ended up jumping on the couch and dancing, and it was at that moment I thought, 'Hmm, there may be something to this one.''

The MTV EMAs, hosted by Heidi Klum, are being broadcast live tonight from 8pm Central European Time and will also feature performances from Pitbull, The Killers and PSY.

A host of stars have already arrived at the event, including an 'excited' Lana Del Ray and Rita Ora, who wowed onlookers in her stunning outfit.

The 21-year-old R.I.P. singer said: 'Tonight I'm wearing only red, but no, it's not an attempt to upstage Taylor Swift. I love her album, I just bought it, I love it.'

British singer Conor Maynard, 19, revealed he is ready to party hard after enjoying a quick power nap.

He said: 'I landed at like 10am this morning and had a really productive day, I got some sleep, I didn't get any last night. But tonight is hopefully the party night. You've got to party hard, like a rockstar.'

Muse bassist Chris Wolstenholme, 33, is also looking forward to letting his hair down as the band is currently in the middle of their tour.

He said: 'It's different being at a pop event like this. It makes a nice change to do something like this on our day off while we're in the middle of a tour. It's a very different world to what we're used to.'
